Assignment 2

To the left is my most successful photo from "The Dozen Photo Challenge" I consider this my best work from this assignment because I captured the concept of the complementary colors technique well. The complementary colors technique is finding and capturing colors that are opposite to each other on the color wheel. I captured blue and orange.

The most challenging aspect of "The Dozen Photo Challenge" was that there were so many interesting concepts that I had to choose from. It was difficult to focus on only 12 and then go out and capture those specific concepts.

In the Future, I am going to try to get off campus for at least one or two images because most of these images where taken directly on campus. Getting out and exploring could be beneficial.

Hello! This photo is awesome! I love how the negative space really draws you to look at the bird, right in the middle of the photograph. I love how simple the photograph is, the water is perfect. I am wondering how much you had to zoom in to capture this image! How far away from the bird were you? One change that I would try was to see if the water was more detailed how that would change our focus and view of the bird. Love your work!

Assignment 3

The image that I submitted for my descriptive image is my best photograph from this assignment. I think it is my most successful image because I centered the car well and took it on a level that viewers are able to look straight to it and see the whole side profile of the Jeep. In the future I am going to edit my pictures saturation a bit to enhance the sky.

My Comment on Another Photographers Blog:

"Comment from Sj Schatzman,

Jessica, you took and choose some great photos for this assignment! You made very clear explanations for each image which was great and easy to read/understand! My favorite photo that you took was the aesthetically evaluate photo! It looks very professional and clear, it was an appealing image that drew me in. It has bright colors and is simple which I love."

Assignment 4

My video analyzing Stephanie Pfriender Stylanders artwork.

My comment on another students work:

Hello Gabriel! Your video was very well done and organized, you seemed very knowledgable about Orozco.  This presentation was great! Maybe focusing on less images and really getting into and analyzing them would have been cool, but overall I loved your video. I didn't see a lot of content from chapter 4 where we talked about types of photography (like descriptive and esthetically evaluate). I was able to see movement in the artists work which was cool. I liked how in the first photograph it was technically two images but it was edited smoothly into one! This artist works made me feel very interested and intrigued. The movement and different shapes was a pleasing view. The shapes almost making a pattern changes my perception of photography, showing me how much editing can develop an image. Learning about this photographer inspired me to try and edit and create more abstract photography at some point.

Assignment 5

My Image

Messina's Image

Part 1:

This is my most successful images because I think that the quality is good and the image has lots of color and different aspects that are drawing the viewer in. Like the leaves in the background and on the ground, as well as how shiny the car is. The most challenging aspect of this assignment for me was honestly choosing which artist I wanted to work with, there are so many talented artists but I wanted to find an artist that took images that I could also somehow capture in my own way. In the future I will try to center the car a bit better, If I had a better camera I would also try to blur the background like Messina was able to do.

Part 2: My comment on another students Post - "Wow, Your image looks great and is so similar to andreas. I like how you pictured it kind of foggy in the back ground like how the professional photographer did it. The contract and shadows that was captures is also great and super similar. Great job!"

The image draws you in with the shadows and fogginess, the main focus is definitely the building in my view. The depth of field definitely allows for us to focus on the building. The dark contrast, black and white and shadows are all done perfectly. The image makes me feel drawn and interested into what time of day and where this image was took. I think the image was done very well!

One of the aspects that I find to be really beautiful in this photo is the colors of the sky with the bright color of the car. The way you captured the image truly makes the car stand out, and it is centered beautifully.

I love the light in this photo, it perfectly highlights the vibrant orange color of the Jeep. The soft evening sky contrasts with the bold colors of the vehicle, creating a calm and vibrant scene. The composition of this photo is also well balanced, with the car centered in the open background. It captures the simplicity and rugged charm of the Jeep, making it feel both everyday and special. Well done.

hi! I think this is a great example of a descriptive image. It captures all the details of the car such as the wheels and color. Adding saturation to the photograph can make the color of the car more vivid. I am also curious how this image would be different if it was done in different lighting.

Hi! I love the analogous photo you took! The neon colors caught my eye immediately. I thought it was a really interesting photo and very clever. I also enjoyed the angle you took the photo, it created a cool depth. I am very curious about what the light fixture is exactly? I also have an LED light fixture in my house, so I recognized that it's an outline of something. Although I liked the angle of the photo, maybe next time a photo from that angle but with the whole light fixture would be more appealing so that the audience can better understand the image. Overall, I thought you did an amazing job, great work!
